WHAT IS EQUITY?

Explores the concept of Equity and how it differs from Equality.

 

It seeks to make meaning of the concepts of Race, Power, & Privilege while exploring the historical aspects of schooling in American society. Participants will leave with a greater understanding of their role as Equity Warriors and their own personal equity definition.

Understanding Unconscious
Bias

Delves into the concept of unconscious bias and how it impacts decisions, actions, and outcomes for students. Participants will explore the many faces of bias and the interplay of gender, race, language, sexual orientation, & socio economic status.

Teaching Tolerance in the Home

Allows parents and caregivers to discuss ways to develop resilient student leaders who are appreciate themselves and others. Parents will gain resources on how to talk to their children about race, culture, current events, and understand prejudice.

Provides school staff with tools to recognize, respond, re-dress, and re-create school environments using the work of Paul Gorski. Staff members will leave this session with tools they can use immediately to address equity issues in a productive manner that holds all stakeholders accountable.
